If domestic abuse is happening in your home, don’t try to stop it – you might get hurt. Instead:
- Call 999 and ask for the police – If you don’t feel safe calling from your home, use a phone box or call from a friend’s house.
- Find a safe place away from the fight – Tell a friend or an adult you trust. If a fight happens, call them.
- Speak to an adult you trust – For example, a teacher or leader of any groups you attend.
Sometimes in an emergency, it’s useful to sort out a ‘codeword’ so that the other person knows what is going on, and can get help.
We can help you prepare a safety plan that is specific to you and your circumstances. You can keep this with you at all times.
